Join 25,000 attendees and a host of celebrities from across the world at this year’s World Book Fair in London, the world’s leading exhibition for booksellers, publishers and book enthusiasts! We are really excited about taking part as an exhibitor in 2017, showcasing the wealth of literature available from English language Indian publishing companies. This will be our 20th year of exhibiting at the London Book Fair.

A Golden Age For Indian Publishing

The publishing industry in India and other South Asian countries is going through an exciting period of growth. Alongside an expanding demand for books in native languages is a vibrant English language publishing culture, growing at an exponential rate. Indian publishers are now not simply producing books for English readers at home and expats abroad, but for a non-Indian readership with an interest in Indian culture, history and literature, past, present and future!

Indian books are phenomenally diverse; covering everything from cookery, to novels, to academic textbooks. Every month, major Indian publishers release up to 1,000 new titles in English, almost all of which are unavailable through western publishers. At Motilal (UK) Books Of India we bridge the gap by making these publications available to booksellers in Britain and the rest of the world. With permanent offices in New Delhi and in the UK, we are the world’s largest exporter of Indian books, and enjoy distributor relationships with 750 Indian publishers, and 42 others from surrounding countries.

What’s Going On At This Year’s Book Fair?

This year’s World Book Fair promises to be a busy and exciting event. There are set to be more than 1,000 exhibitors from across the world. Alongside hundreds of British and American publishers, literary agencies, wholesalers and book trade support services like ourselves. This year there is an especially strong representation from Poland. Poland had a diverse and well-established publishing industry, which was completely eclipsed during the communist years. Since the return of democracy, many of the old publishing companies have re-established themselves, alongside the growth of new and exciting literary houses. With Polish now the 2nd language in the UK booksellers will be looking for new sales potential, and we offer the same potential sales developments.

Closer to home – for us – we are looking forward to seeing exhibitions from 30 Indian publishers and distributors, as well as Paramount Publishing from Pakistan, of whose titles we supply to the UK and Worldwide book trade at an expanding rate every year. The World Book Fair becomes more truly global each year, with contributions from thousands of small businesses, authors and creators. We can hardly wait!
